Mrs N Ledden – TA

Miss J Bresnahan – TA

Autumn 1 – Brainwaves

In Autumn 1 the children are learning about their brains, what they are for, and how they connect our body and all our ideas together. They will be exploring their 5 senses and using these to design their own healthy fruit dish based on their likes and dislikes.

Trip – We will receive a visit from ‘Little City’ to engage in exciting role play

Autumn 2 – Treasure Island

The world is a connected place, for thousands of years we have been building networks of trade across the land and sea. In this unit, we will explore important travel inventions such as the airplane and hot air balloon.

Trip – We will be visiting The Docklands Museum to explore London’s history in trade and transport in a fun and interactive way.

Spring 1 – A Day in the Life

We will be learning about the lives of important people in the past such as Ruby Bridges, Rosa Parks and Claudette Colvin. We will be comparing life now to life in the past and how it has changed over time.

Spring 2 – Time Travellers

We will be learning about how people find out about the past, the clues we can uncover and how evidence tells us what happened in the past. We will be historians to research The Great Fire of London and explore how the past is recorded and represented.

Trip – We will be walking up the 311 steps to reach the top of Monument. We will be walking down Pudding Lane and visiting the statue built to remember the Great Fire of London.

Summer 1 – Green Fingers

We will be learning about plants and how important they are to our world. We will be learning about what plants need to grow our own. We will also be comparing garden and wild plants and learning the names of the most common plants found in the UK. We will experience observing our own caterpillar life cycle.

Summer 2 – The Earth: Our Home

All living things – plants, animals and people – have a home or somewhere to live that we call a ‘habitat’. A habitat can be huge like the ocean or small like a leaf. To survive, living things need to live in places that meet their needs. We will be exploring what living things need to survive and how do different habitats provide for their needs.
